Weaving Voices
Directed by Warona Setshwaelo, Weaving Voices is a movement and voice-based exploration of choral connection and ensemble-based performance, using Afro-centric techniques. The piece incorporates texts and poems predominantly from Black poets, including an iconic performance of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and For Women Who are Difficult to Love by Warsan Shire. Warona also taught us the South African traditional dance, Jamboot, adding another layer of depth to our collective expression.
This process was about trust, vulnerability, and joy, blending tradition with our own expression of love and resilience.
